Location: Glass Tower (Day)

???: You’re as beautiful as the day I first met you. It’s as if time has stopped existing for you. If only it could stop for me as well. If it’s just you and I forever, that alone would’ve been enough to make me happy.

I will always be by your side. Until the last of my days and even in death.

Thank you. For everything until now. And for everything from now on--

Location: Sage’s Room (Day)

That afternoon, as usual, I was skimming through the guide written by the previous Sage.

(Door knocking)

Snow: It’s us, Sage.

White: Mind if you could spare us a moment of your time?

Akira: Oh hey, Snow and White. What’s the matter?

I welcomed the twins inside my room and, upon exchanging looks with each other, charming smiles came upon their faces.

Snow - White: << Noscomnia >>

Akira: Huh!?

The moment they abruptly cast their spell, specks of light filled my sight and I couldn’t help shrieking in surprise.

The light dispersed like stardust and then gathered itself into a ball of light that softly floated in the air before my eyes.

White: Now then, please hold your hand out.

I did as I was told and just then the ball of light burst forth dissipating, a majestic sculpture made of glass appearing in the palm of my hand.

Akira: Wow…! So beautiful…! Um, what is this supposed to be…?

As my eyes widened in surprise, the twins grinned from ear to ear, evidently pleased with my reaction.

Snow - White: Yipee! The surprise was a tremendous success!

White: You see, this is a stained glass candle stand we crafted.

Snow: During our mission in the North a few days ago we stumbled upon some rather suitable gemstone materials, and decided to use them for a special surprise just for you, Sage.

Akira: Oh, I see…Thank you, that makes me very happy!

The small tower-like candle stand glimmers in the colors of the rainbow when its kaleidoscopic glass comes in touch the light.

With a hint of delicateness and elegance, small in size yet possessing a powerful presence, it somehow reminded me of the twins.

Akira: I’ve never seen such a majestic candle stand before. If only I could repay you with something…

White: No need to fret about that. We simply wanted to see you smile, that’s all.

Snow: We wanted to reward you for being such a hard worker.

Our latest mission proved to be rather long and you’ve tired yourself a great lot, after all.

You ought to rest your gaze on this candle’s flame and spend the night in peace, be it even for a little bit.

Akira: You guys…

I gently held the candle stand with my palms.

Their thoughtfulness brought warmth to my heart. The candle, albeit unlit, gave off that same warmth, spreading it to my palms.

White: We are especially delighted to see you in both surprise and joy.

Snow: We suffer from this bizarre illness that makes us sick if we don’t witness the Sage’s astonished face ever so often.

Akira: W-Wait, really?

White: Right so. We’ll ensure to surprise you once more shall you ever forget.

Snow: Hohoho! It will be fun when that faithful time arrives, Sage.

I gazed the candle stand on my windowsill for a while after the two left.

Akira: (It really is pretty… It’s so sparkly under the sun’s light it almost looks like water…)

As I watched the light reflecting off it, I reminiscenced of the time we visited the Frozen City in the North.

The Frozen City is where the twins resided. I can vividly remember the beautiful stained glass townscape covered in deep snow.

Akira: (I heard they were the ones who made that stained glass tower, but…)

Some times it’s considered a patrimony, and other times - an amulet. The citizens treasured the twins’ works and earnestly took care of them.

For those who live under their protection, it was more than just a dignified work of art, but rather it carried the value of a token of protection.

Akira: (Since it’s very valuable it’s not something that can be earned easily…)

And yet, the fact that they gave me something so special out of their own courtesy, for no particular reason, fills my heart with warmth.

(Now that I think about it, they were the ones who gave me a great sense of courage when I first came to this world.)

(I really want to do something to show them my thanks…)

Location: Melitro (Day)

The next day I visited Melitro - a general store located at the heart of the Central marketplace - together with Figaro, Arthur, Heathcliff, and Mitile.

Heathcliff: Hello, Mister Sarkara.

Mitile: Here you go. This is your monthly amount of sugar!

We’ve been to Melitro before because of a request in the past. That’s how we got acquainted with Mister Sarkara and we’ve kept in touch with each other ever since.

Sarkara: Hello everyone! Thank you for coming as al—Ehhh!?

I-I-Is that you, P-Prince Arthur!?

Figaro: Hey now, have your knees gone weak?

Arthur: I apologize if I’ve overwhelmed you. I decided to visit in secret today, so I ask of you to make sure it stays that way.

Akira: Ahaha…

The reason we’ve come here today is the conversation I had with Figaro and Arthur last night.

[Flashback]

Location: Manor Common Room (Night)

Figaro: A return gift?

Arthur: For Lords Snow and White?

Akira: Yes. But I’m not sure what I should give them…

Since you guys have known them for a long time, I figured you’d know what kind of stuff they are into.

If you don’t mind, could you give me some advice?

Figaro: That’s really benevolent of you, Master Sage.

Akira: What do you mean?

Figaro: I’m sure Lords Snow and White would be plenty happy to simply receive a gift from you...

Do you mean you want to give something that will make them happy, correct?

Figaro and Arthur softly chuckled when they saw me blushed in return.

Figaro: In that case, how about you give them sweets?

Akira: Sweets?

Figaro: Yeah. Those two are into anything that’s involved with sweets. They’re really into hosting tea parties with the younger wizards too.

So if you surprise them with sweets perfect enough to accompany a tea party with the younger lads, they’ll gonna love it for sure!

Akira: I see…

Arthur: Speaking of, I got some souvenir confectionaries from Heathcliff the other day and they were absolutely delicious.

He mentioned they were a new kind of sweets he got from a general store in Central where we sell the sugar made here at the manor.

They’re shaped and colored in a very adorable manner, so perhaps Lords Snow and White would fancy them too.

Figaro: He’s right. Those two are crazy about anything small and adorable.

Now that you mentioned it, I believe it’s the same store Mitile said he visited before.

Mitile’s also into that kind of stuff since there’s not that many fancy-shmancily made sweets in the South after all.

Akira: Then, how about we invite Heath and Mitile to come with us to the store?

Arthur: Great idea! It sounds like it’ll be fun.

I later explained to Heathcliff and Mitile what the situation was and when I invited them to come along, they gladly offered to help me gift-searching.
